Rolling Stones Releasing ‘Hackney Diamonds’ Special Anniversary Edition Vinyl With Live Recordings
The Rolling Stones are marking the one-year anniversary of their critically acclaimed Hackney Diamonds album with a special 2-LP vinyl reissue. Released last October, the band’s 24th studio album broke a 17-year gap in original material since 2005's A Bigger Bang and brought fans an energetic new chapter in the Stones' storied career.
A Stunning Vinyl Edition
The anniversary edition features a “clear blue splatter” vinyl design, adding a visually striking touch for collectors and fans alike. Alongside the original 12 tracks, the release includes a bonus disc with seven live recordings from their Hackney Diamonds release party held at Racket in New York on October 19, 2023.
This bonus disc captures the electric energy of the Stones' live performances, featuring:
- New Tracks: “Bite My Head Off,” “Angry,” and “Whole Wide World”
- Timeless Classics: “Shattered,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” and a live rendition of “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” with Lady Gaga
Accompanying the music is a 24-page booklet filled with behind-the-scenes photos from the Racket show, taken by renowned celebrity photographer Kevin Mazur.
Star-Studded Collaborations and Final Moments With Charlie Watts
Hackney Diamonds not only boasted the band’s signature sound but also included collaborations with legendary artists such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Lady Gaga. The album holds special significance as it features the final recordings with the Stones' late drummer, Charlie Watts, making it a poignant milestone in their career.
The album has earned critical praise and is a contender for Best Rock Album at the upcoming Grammy Awards.
Record-Breaking Summer Tour Success
2024 has also been a monumental year for the Stones, as their Hackney summer tour became the biggest single-season tour in the band’s history. Over 18 dates, the tour grossed an astonishing $235 million and sold 848,000 tickets, setting a new milestone for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood. While the Stones have seen higher grosses on global tours spanning multiple years, this was their most lucrative season to date.
The Legacy of Hackney Diamonds
Singles such as “Angry,” “Mess It Up,” and the soulful “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” featuring Lady Gaga have solidified Hackney Diamonds as a standout release in the band’s legendary discography. The album showcases the Stones’ ability to remain innovative and relevant while staying true to their roots.
The anniversary reissue serves as both a celebration of Hackney Diamonds and a testament to the enduring power of The Rolling Stones, proving they still reign supreme in the rock world. Fans can look forward to reliving the magic of the album and its unforgettable live moments in this deluxe collection.
